Jasmine in the Back Up Dress from bb.com.au |
Meet Jasmine Garnsworthy, online Fashion Editor for Australia's leading online publication Popsugar.com.au
Jasmine took 5 with us to answer a few questions about her dream job and give us her top 5 picks from bb.com.au
Can you tell me a little bit about your job as online Fashion Editor for Popsugar?
It’s a lot of fun, but hard work. As fashion editor I’m responsible for all the style content published on Popsugar.com.au. That includes brainstorming ideas, being on top of trends, researching and writing stories, and chatting with our readers on social media (the entire Popsugar Australia team is a little addicted to Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). I also work closely with our sister site, Shopstyle Australia, creating cool, shoppable stories and social media content.
What does a typical day look like for yourself?
On an average day, I’ve read the news, scanned Instagram and Twitter and am in the office, planning my day or beginning my first post by 7am. We have an editorial meeting at 9am, by which time the team has a pretty good idea of what stories we’ll be covering across fashion, celebrity, health and fitness, and beauty that day. Then it’s heads down, straight back to content creating. Many afternoons will end with a showing, event, or meeting with a PR team or brand, and then I try to switch off with a run along Bondi Beach and dinner with my boyfriend.
What's your go to piece this season?
I am on the hunt for the perfect grey turtle neck sweater for Winter.
What are your favourite fashion items that you can't live without?
It changes with the season, and right now I couldn’t live without my Paige Denim black jeans, leather bomber jacket, over-the-knee boots, and white midi skirt.
Who are your style icons?
Olivia Palermo and Jenna Lyons.
What are your goals for 2014?
We measure how many people are visiting Popsugar Australia each month, and late last year we hit one million! So, this year is all about growing that number by continuing to create the totally addictive fashion, celebrity, fitness and beauty content that keeps our readers coming back. Personally, I’m also trying to save money (shopping is a workplace hazard in this industry).
What trends are you looking forward to seeing this Autumn/Winter?
It’s the middle of fashion month internationally at the moment, and pale pink coats have been the street style set’s go-to, so I’m counting down the days until it’s cool enough in Sydney to wear a candy-coloured cover-up myself.
What are your top 5 picks from BB's new arrivals and how would you wear them?
Premonition Marquis Knit Jumper
I’m big on white-on-white this season and would tick off the trend with this top and distressed white denim jeans.

Back Up Dress
This dress, a jacket tied around my waist, mirrored shades and white Arizona Birkenstocks would make the perfect Saturday morning ensemble.

Aqualung Skirt Violet
Trumpet skirts are so on-trend, I’d wear this one with a structured crop top and pointy pumps.

Don't Sweat It Shorts
I live in Bondi Beach, a fairly casual part of the world when it comes to fashion. These shorts are a cool option for lazy, warm weekends.
